What happens when you announce an internal building competition with the prize of a team lunch? To say the least, it gets competitive.

With our actual building phase in full swing, our Brisbane and Sydney team have been working hard behind the scenes in their spare time over the last month to nail this internal building competition. The brief was to build a model of our Delta Velos launch vehicle that is made out of commercially available materials, is maximum 1m in size, looks realistic and has the ability to fly.

Our R&D Brisbane team, consisting of experts in various fields of Aerospace engineering and showing off their skillset, took home the well-deserved win with below presentation of their model. Please check out their video here.

The Sydney team had the slight disadvantage of an ongoing lockdown (now in week 13) with closures of Bunnings stores so strolling down the aisles for materials and ideas was not an option. But despite the challenges, Team Sydney still managed to hand something in. See below images and a huge credit to our Managing Director, David Waterhouse for putting something together out of materials he had available at home. They might or might not have included a Soda stream and taking apart kid’s toys.

Even though this was just some internal fun, we felt it was the right thing to do and share this with you all. We look forward to our next competition and have big hopes to be out of lockdown by then.

Competition is on, Brisbane Team 😉
